The Area

Otaru, a picturesque port city located just 30 minutes north-west of Sapporo, is a hidden gem for travelers. Known for its scenic canals and historical stone buildings, Otaru once served as the economic hub of Hokkaido. Today, it stands as a must-visit destination, offering a unique blend of cultural heritage and gastronomy.

Otaru’s strategic location makes it an ideal base for ski travelers. Niseko and Rusutsu are just one hour drive from Otaru, while Kiroro and Teine only 30min. Local mountain Tenguyama is a mere 10minutes from town. The proximity to ski resorts makes this town a perfect base for ski travelers. Whether you’re hitting the slopes, exploring the city’s cultural sites, or indulging in delicious local cuisine, Otaru promises a memorable and diverse winter experience.

Daily Itinerary

DAY 1
Upon landing at Chitose or Asahikawa airport, our team will pick you up to be transferred to your hotel. You will be able to check your gear and meet your guide, who will fill you in on the snow conditions and weather forecast for the week ahead. Option of day or night skiing at any of the nearby resorts (lift ticket not included).

DAY 2-6
Your guide will decide the best resort to visit each day, and you will receive information about the weather, avalanche forecasts, and activities in the area. You will have the opportunity to end each day in a different outdoor hot spring, eat in traditional or modern restaurants, and enjoy any of the activities the area has to offer.

DAY 7
Transfer to Asahikawa/Chitose Airport.
